Transforming Carbon is an exhibition that takes the audience on a journey with carbon, to become carbon literate, in a world where our understanding of carbon will shape our future.
Carbon has an integral role in the patterns of growth and decay of the Earth. Its dynamic ability to build and split with other elements allows it to cycle through breath and digestion, from atmosphere to ocean to soil.
This exhibition is part installation, part immersion and part visual art. It will include evening performance lectures and a panel as part of Melbourne Design Week.
Aviva Reed is a visual ecologist. Her practice reframes scientific theories, particularly concepts associated with evolution and ecological categorisations. Her work moves between performance, ritual, lecture, publications and visual art. She explores time, scale and relationship using storytelling, visualisations, soundscapes and conversation.
The Industrial School is wheelchair accessible, however the flooring is rough.
Gender-neutral and accessible toilets are available close to the venue.
