Join us for Music in the Round as the Abbotsford Convent comes to life with classical music this spring.

Presented by the Abbotsford Convent Foundation with Artistic Director Chris Howlett, this year’s program showcases some of Australia’s most celebrated classical musicians.

Enjoy intimate performances in the Convent’s stunning venues, and mingle with some of the featured musicians at an exclusive grazing-style luncheon – catered by the award-winning Bursaria Fine Foods. All of this is included in the price of your 2018 Music in the Round ticket.

In 2018, Music in the Round will embrace home-grown talent of an international calibre, with an array of exceptional Australian musicians who have enjoyed international success.

From the youngest-ever winner of the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition in Geneva (2018), 10 year-old Christian Li, to internationally-renowned Australian pianists Kristian Chong and Stephen McIntyre, and internationally-trained ensemble Latitude 37 and Daniel de Borah, these musicians are sure to wow and delight.

Don’t miss this special day, as these incredible musicians inspire through a program featuring Schubert and Schumann, through to Brahms and Bartok.

Music in the Round originally launched in 1972, with celebrated violinist Paul McDermott and the Australian Musicians’ Guild creating the event to showcase Australia’s leading chamber musicians. After debuting at Monsalvat and then moving to Werribee Mansion, it relocated to Abbotsford Convent in 1977. For nine years, Music in the Round delighted audiences with an innovative program featuring spectacular converts set in historical spaces. Marking the 10th birthday of the Abbotsford Convent Foundation (ACF), Music in the Round returned to the Convent in 2014.
